The Stutsman County Courthouse and Sheriff’s Residence/Jail in Jamestown, North Dakota, has a history that dates back to the late 1800s. The building served as the county courthouse and jail until 1994, when a new facility was built to replace it. But even though the building is no longer in use, it’s said to be haunted by the spirits of former inmates and prisoners.

One of the most famous ghosts said to haunt the Stutsman County Courthouse is that of a former prisoner who died in his cell. Visitors to the building have reported feeling a sudden drop in temperature, hearing unexplained noises, and seeing shadowy figures in the hallways.

Other ghostly sightings include the ghost of a former sheriff who is said to still patrol the building, the ghost of a former inmate who is said to be trapped in the building, and the ghost of a former judge who is said to have taken his own life in his chambers.
