Rolling Hills Asylum is a former poorhouse, jail, and asylum located in East Bethany, New York, that dates back to the mid-19th century. While it may have once provided shelter and care for the destitute and mentally ill, it’s also known for its ghostly past.
Many visitors to the asylum have reported experiencing strange occurrences, such as hearing footsteps, doors opening and closing on their own, and seeing ghostly apparitions. There are reports of a ghostly nurse walking the halls and a young girl named Roya who roams the facility, along with other ghostly figures.
The asylum was also the site of a number of tragic events, including a fire in the 1950s that killed several patients. Some visitors have reported smelling smoke or even feeling heat emanating from the walls, despite there being no fire.
